Class descriptions

  • Hatha (All Levels):
This all-levels class begins with a gentle warm up, builds slowly to a dynamic, heating flow of classical hatha poses, and finishes with longer-held seated poses and breathing exercises. It’s a balanced practice that stretches, strengthens, and detoxifies the whole body, leaving students feeling calm and relaxed.
  • Hot Essentials (Beginner):
Held in a heated room, this beginner-level class is designed for yoga students who prefer a slower-paced, less strenuous practice.
  • Hot Hatha (All Levels):
Held in a heated room, this all-levels class begins with a gentle warm up, builds slowly to a dynamic, heating flow of classical hatha poses, and finishes with longer-held seated poses and breathing exercises. It’s a balanced practice that stretches, strengthens, and detoxifies the whole body, leaving students feeling calm and relaxed.
  • Hot Yin (All Levels):
This yin practice is held in a heated room. A typical North American hatha class embodies yang energy: it is heating, active, and muscular in nature. A yin-style practice, on the other hand, is cooling, receptive, and targets the connective tissue. In this all-levels class, props support the body in longer-held poses, allowing the connective tissue to release deeply held tension. Yin is a wonderful practice for targeting chronically tight areas of the body, such as hips, hamstrings, and shoulders.
  • Meditation (All Levels):
This all-levels class incorporates gentle movement, breathing exercises, and meditation. Prior experience with meditation is not required.
  • Pranayama & Meditation (All Levels):
This all-levels class combines pranayama (breathing exercises) from the yoga tradition with mindfulness meditation. We begin with pranayama to help calm and settle the mind, then move on to 2-3 short periods of meditation. Pranayama and meditation are guided and supported, making this class suitable for newcomers as well as more experienced students.
  • Yoga for Lyme Disease:
This 8-week specialty class is for people living with Lyme disease and their caregivers. The focus of the class is on therapeutic movement, detoxification, and relaxation. Pre-registration is required.
